Vol. 554 No. 5

Written Answers. - Work Permits.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

180 Mr. Durkan asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when a work permit will issue in the case of a person (details supplied) in County Kildare whose application has been pending for some time; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [16449/02]

A work permit application on behalf of the person in question was recently refused on the grounds that it appears that he is already working in this country without having had a work permit issued on his behalf, contrary to article 4 of the Aliens (Amendment) (No. 2) Order 1999. It would not, therefore, be appropriate to issue a work permit in the circumstances. The company has been informed of the position.
