Ceist:

143 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform when he will extend the on-the-spot fines to non-wearing of seat belts and other offences; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19670/02]

A list of traffic offences for which fine-on-the-spot notices are currently issued is set out as follows. The Deputy will see that this includes seat belt infringements.

Any amendments to this list would be a matter for my colleague, Deputy Seamus Brennan, Minister for Transport, whose Department is responsible for road traffic legislation.

Parking a vehicle within 15 metres of Traffic Lights (approach side).

Parking a vehicle within 5 metres of Traffic Lights (other than approach side).

Parking a vehicle at a Bus Stop.

Parking a vehicle in a place prohibited.

Parking a vehicle at No Parking Sign at a time prohibited.

Parking a vehicle at a Restricted Parking Sign at a time prohibited.
