Vol. 556 No. 2

Written Answers. - Community Support Services.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

98 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if more hours of home help and other family-type support will be granted in the case of persons (details supplied) in County Laois; if a care assistant can be provided at night for these persons; if basic essentials such as nappies will be supplied; if their circumstances will be examined in detail to determine the support which is required and the way in which it can be delivered; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19620/02]

The provision of support to families with multiple birth children is a matter for the relevant health board. In the case of the persons to whom the Deputy refers, responsibility rests with the Midland Health Board. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the Midland Health Board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to respond to him directly.
