Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Phil Hogan

Ceist:

271 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to the case put forward by local community and statutory bodies in Kilkenny city and county in respect of decentralisation; when he is likely to make an announcement regarding this matter; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20297/02]

I am well aware of the case made for the inclusion of Kilkenny city and county in any new programme of decentralisation. Given the range of important issues which need to be taken into account in taking decisions in relation to a new programme of decentralisation, I am not in a position to say when I expect the Government to take definitive decisions on the proposed programme. The Deputy can be assured that all submissions and representations made will be taken into account as part of the Government's deliberations in this regard.
