Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Physical Education Facilities.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

355 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Education and Science the supports available or priority given currently for the addition of physical education halls for primary schools; and if he will make a statement on possibilities for Department and community co-operative ventures in respect of such requests. [19932/02]

Under the primary school planning guidelines, provision is made for general purposes areas ranging from 91 square metres to 200 square metres, depending on the size of the school. Existing schools may apply to my Department for grant aid towards general purpose rooms and these are considered in the context of the priority to be afforded to projects and the financial allocation made available for the primary school building programme.
