Michael Ring

Ceist:

505 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children if he has satisfied himself with the appeals officer appointed by the Western Health Board; if he has satisfied himself with the procedures carried out in the appointment; if this post was advertised; if interviews were held for the position; if he has satisfied himself that the appointee could be regarded as an independent appeals officer; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19927/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 503 to 505, inclusive, together.

Responsibility for the appointment of an appeals officer and related matters in this case rests with the Western Health Board. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive officer to investigate the matters raised by the Deputy and reply to him directly.
