Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Autism Services.

Mary Upton

Ceist:

535 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will offer assistance to help resolve a dispute between the South-Western Area Health Board and Menni services, Islandbridge, as this dispute is preventing the delivery of vital services to 20 children. [20147/02]

Responsibility for the provision of services to persons with an intellectual disability and those with autism in the Dublin region is a matter in the first instance for the Eastern Regional Health Authority. These include Menni services, Islandbridge, which is among a wide range of services in the field of mental health and intellectual disability provided by the Hospitaller Order of St. John of God and commissioned by the authority. My Department has therefore asked the chief executive of the authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply directly to her.
