Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Public Transport.

Barry Andrews

Ceist:

581 Mr. Andrews asked the Minister for Transport his views on revenue sharing among the various bodies which are proposed as operators of integrated ticketing in the greater Dublin area; and the way in which, when and by whom revenues will be disbursed, as this issue remains a key political obstacle to implementation of integrated ticketing. [19892/02]

The Railway Procurement Agency, RPA, has been given statutory responsibility for the implementation of an integrated ticketing project for the Dublin area. The RPA have indicated a target date of 2005 for completion of the full project. However, I have now required them to bring forward interim proposals for implementation next year. I am informed by the RPA that the agency will be consulting shortly with all the relevant stakeholders, including existing operators, regarding the design of the system, including rules on management of data and apportionment of revenue.
