620 Mr. Carey asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the progress which has been made in planning for a new Garda station for the Ballymun area; the time scale for construction; the status of the station; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19987/02]
It is proposed to build a Garda divisional headquarters station in Ballymun. Planning for the station is being advanced through consultation with the Garda authorities and the Office of Public Works. A brief of requirements for the new station is currently being prepared.
While it is not possible to say at this point when the project will commence, I can assure the Deputy that the matter will be progressed as quickly as overall priorities within the Garda building programme and the availability of financial and other resources allow.
