Bruton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the key performance indicators being used by his Department; the performance in respect of these for the past five years; and if a commentary is published on these performance indicators linking them to objectives and activities. In my Department's statements of strategy 1998-2001 and 2001-2004, key performance indicators are identified for each of the Department's areas of responsibility. Progress in implementing the statement of strategy is set out annually in the Department's annual report. Copies of the annual reports for 1998 to 2001 are available in the Oireachtas Library. The annual report for 2002 will be available in 2003.

Performance indicators for the agencies which my Department funds are generally identified in plans or statements of strategy as detailed in the following table. Progress in implementing these indicators is set out annually in the agencies' annual reports as also detailed in the following table. The annual reports for 2002 should be available in 2003. Copies of the documents referred to are made available in the Oireachtas Library.
