Vol. 556 No. 3

Written Answers. - Community Development.

John Perry

Ceist:

709 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the number of applications submitted for counties Sligo and Leitrim for funding for voluntary and community organisations under the federation and networks grants supporting voluntary activity scheme; the names and addresses of same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19757/02]

The funding scheme to support the role of federations and networks in the community and voluntary sector is one of a number of measures included in the White Paper on Supporting Voluntary Activity. The scheme attracted 152 applications of which four applications were from County Sligo and two applications from County Leitrim. While it is not proposed to provide details of the applicants pending completion of the scheme, all applicants will be advised of the outcome in respect of their application at the earliest possible date.

Fergus O'Dowd

Ceist:

710 Mr. O'Dowd asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs his plans to extend CLÁR to the offshore islands; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [19839/02]

I have commissioned the National Institute for Regional and Spatial Analysis at NUI, Maynooth, to analyse the 2002 population census data to assist me in reviewing the CLÁR areas. An Agreed Programme for Government contains a commitment to review the census data and consider additional areas for inclusion. At present, CLÁR covers some inhabited islands in Donegal, Mayo, Galway and Cork in line with the criteria used for the selection of CLÁR areas. I expect the review will be completed by the end of 2002.
