30 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the number of herd owners in County Mayo who were instructed to destock their sheep numbers recently; the number of sheep which have to be destocked in total from Mayo; the figures for each county affected; and if he will provide maps of all the areas affected. [20701/02]
Notifications of preliminary calculations setting out the ewe stocking level and ewe quotas that farmers with commonage land may retain for 2003 have issued to 1,551 farmers in County Mayo. There is a destocking requirement, in 1,381 cases, of a net total of 24,432 ewes. The table below sets out the position nationally and includes the figures for County Mayo. It would be a time consuming and costly exercise to provide a copy of all of each of the over 2,500 maps involved. My Department has published details of all framework plans completed to date, including maps, on the Internet at www.commonage.agriculture.gov.ie , for the benefit of farmers and planners.
