Vol. 556 No. 5

Written Answers. - Irish Cattle Breeding Federation.

Bernard Allen

Ceist:

79 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if his attention has been drawn to difficulties in the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20690/02]

I am aware of difficulties which have arisen recently in the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation. However, the federation is an autonomous body and it would be inappropriate for me to comment on matters which are internal to that organisation. Nevertheless, I attach considerable importance to the aims, objectives and activities of the Irish Cattle Breeding Federation and I hope that these difficulties will not interfere with the work of the organisation. I understand that moves are under way to resolve current difficulties and it is my hope that these efforts will be successful.
