Vol. 556 No. 5

Written Answers. - Capital Investment Scheme.

Denis Naughten

Ceist:

90 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food his plans to review the criteria established for the capital investment scheme for marketing and processing of certain agricultural products. [16025/02]

The capital investment scheme operated by my Department for the marketing and processing of certain agricultural products provides grant assistance towards capital projects in the eggs, livestock, horticulture, grain and potato sectors which do not fall within the remit of the development agencies. The objective of the scheme is to enhance the competitiveness and added value of certain agriculture products, which fall within the scope of Annexe 1 of the EU treaty.

While I have no immediate plans to formally review the criteria, all of the criteria (selection, eligibility, investment levels and sectoral priorities) are assessed on a continuous basis to ensure that the objectives of this scheme are met.
