228 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources when his Department will agree to pay the necessary moneys to Cork County Council to complete work on a project (details supplied). [21792/02]
The pier in question is owned by Cork County Council and responsibility for its repair and maintenance and development rests with the local authority in the first instance. My Department provided funding in 1999 and 2001 totalling €110,910.51 to Cork County Council towards the cost of extending the slipway and improvement works there. In December 2001 Cork County Council confirmed that the works were complete. Any further works required at the slipway are a matter for Cork County Council.
