215 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children further to his meeting earlier in 2002 (details supplied), the measures his Department has taken to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22124/02]

The matter raised by the Deputy is under consideration by my Department at present. My officials are researching existing international models. On completion of this research further investigation will take place into the clinical and administrative aspects of the most relevant models examined.

Ceist:

216 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 1127 of 9 October 2002, when the requested information will be furnished; his views on whether this is a satisfactory delay to a parliamentary question; if he intends to rescind his decision to withdraw from health boards IT funding which would make such information easily accessible; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22125/02]

My Department has contacted the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards on numerous occasions to request details in relation to OPV and BCG-related issues raised by the Deputy in this and previous parliamentary questions. I hope to be in a position to provide the information to the Deputy as soon as the details are received. I understand from the health boards that the delay in the provision of OPV figures in this regard is mainly due to the difficulties encountered in acquiring up to date details from general practitioners. In relation to the follow up by health boards to determine the number of individuals who require revaccination following receipt of BCG vaccine which was subsequently found to be less potent than that which is normally administered, this process is ongoing. I would like to clarify that there has been no withdrawal of IT funding.
