Ceist:92 Mr. Boyle asked the Minister for Education and Science the budget agreed in the 2002 Book of Estimates for supervisor substitution cover; and the anticipated spend for this category for 2002. [21687/02]

The amount allocated in the Book of Estimates in 2002 for supervision and substitution was €75 million.
The terms of proposals made to and accepted by the INTO and the TUI in relation to payment for supervision and substitution are also on offer to the ASTI. At a special convention on 19 October ASTI decided to ballot its members on these proposals. That ballot is ongoing and a result is expected in the near future.
The outcome of this ballot will have a significant bearing on the cost and timing of supervision and substitution payments to the end of the year. Accordingly, the end of year costs are not known at this time.
