My Department has an extensive primary school building programme under way at present and this includes a large number of projects at various stages of architectural planning. My Department has no plans at present to start architectural planning for further major primary school building projects. In the meantime, the authorities at Creggs national school should use the devolved grant which is given to all schools on an annual basis to deal with essential health and safety issues.

I assume the Deputy's question refers to Scoil Mhuire second level school in Strokestown, County Roscommon. The position in relation to an application from this school for capital funding is that the post-primary building unit of my Department is currently examining stage one documentation, site suitability, briefing and site report, which was recently submitted by the school management authority. A response to this submission will issue shortly.
