Vol. 557 No. 4

Written Answers. - Health Board Services.

Paul Connaughton

Ceist:

352 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason a half hour physiotherapy session per week was withdrawn by the Western Health Board to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; if his attention has been drawn to the horrific injuries sustained by this person in a traffic accident two years ago and to the fact that both the injured party and their family and friends believe that an increased number of physiotherapy sessions per week would be of great help rather than the withdrawal of the minimum service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22421/02]

The provision of health-related services, including physiotherapy, is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority and the health boards in the first instance. Accordingly, a copy of the Deputy's question has been referred to the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board with a request that she examine the matter and reply directly to the Deputy as a matter of urgency.
