Ceist:412 Ms M. Wallace asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his Department has funded many mother and toddler groups; and if not, the reason therefor. [22531/02]

Projects which are eligible for funding under my Department's equal opportunities child care programme 2000-2006, must increase the number of child care facilities and places, enhance the quality of child care provision in the locality and allow parents to avail of educational, training or employment opportunities. Parent and toddler groups do not normally meet this latter criterion and do not therefore receive grant support under the programme.
