Seán Crowe

Ceist:

415 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties being experienced by the Garda authorities in the Tallaght station; and if he has made a decision to resolve the overcrowded conditions by increasing the office space. [22535/02]

Ceist:

421 Mr. Crowe asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the difficulties experienced by the Garda authorities in the Tallaght area regarding the lack of space for recovered stolen cars; and the steps which are being taken to resolve this problem. [22541/02]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 415 and 421 together.

I am aware of the difficulties being experienced at Tallaght Garda station. It is intended to fully address all the accommodation issues at this station, including the provision of additional parking and storage facilities, so that proper and adequate accommodation is available to the Garda in Tallaght to allow gardaí to work efficiently and effectively for the benefit of the community. The Office of Public Works is researching proposals to maximise the development potential of the existing Garda station site. The current and future requirements of the Garda Síochána at Tallaght will be accommodated in any future development.
