Vol. 557 No. 4

Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Jack Wall

Ceist:

427 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number of gardaí attached to Castledermot Garda station, Castledermot, County Kildare; if he has satisfied himself with the number; his plans to increase the numbers attached to the station; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [22557/02]

I have been informed by the Garda authorities, who are responsible for the detailed allocation of resources to individual areas, that the current personnel strength of Castledermot Garda station is one sergeant. Local Garda management is satisfied that the current personnel strength of Castledermot Garda station is adequate to meet the present policing needs of the area.

There are currently no plans to increase the personnel strength of Castledermot Garda station. The situation will, however, be kept under review and when additional personnel next become available, the needs of Castledermot will be fully considered within the overall context of the needs of Garda stations throughout the country.
