Vol. 557 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

439 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when a person (details supplied) in County Mayo will receive entitlements under the ewe cull scheme from 1999 onwards. [22610/02]

When the 30% destocking was introduced in 1998, the person named had a permanent quota of 92 and a total headage of 135. Consequently, he was required to destock by 41 ewes, bringing him to a total of 94. As he was still over his quota, he did not suffer a loss of premium but qualified for a payment for loss of headage and, in 1999, a one-off payment of €2.54, £2, per ewe culled. In the years 1999 and 2000 the person received loss of headage payments of €643.76, £507, and €572.65, £451, respectively. However, from 2001 headage became an area based rather than an animal based payment. Therefore, he did not qualify for any payment from this Department from 2001.
