283 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Education and Science the position in relation to Blessington No. 1 School, Main Street, Blessington, County Wicklow; when building will proceed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23620/02]
My Department has an extensive primary school building programme under way at present and this includes a large number of projects at various stages of architectural planning. My Department has no plans at present to start architectural planning for further major primary school building projects. In the meantime, the authorities of the school in question should use the devolved grant which is given to all schools on an annual basis to deal with essential health and safety issues.
284 Mr. Stagg asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will sanction the architectural planning of the required extension to Tiermohan NS, Donaola, Naas, County Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23669/02]
My Department has an extensive primary school building programme under way at present, details of which are available on my Department's website at www.education.ie. In view of the extensive nature of the building programme, my Department has no plans at present to initiate architectural planning for any further major building projects for the foreseeable future. In the meantime, the school's board of management should use its devolved grant to deal with any urgent health and safety works.
