301 Mr. J. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if adequate funding has been provided from the National Development Plan for the building of the new pier at Bantry; and the amount involved. [23268/02]
Bantry Bay Harbour Commissioners applied for funding for a new pier development at Bantry under the seaports infrastructure and capacity sub-measure of the southern and eastern regional operational programme of the National Development Plan.
The provision which relates to harbour authorities and private sector applicants under the seaports investment measures of the national development plan as specified in the published abridged Estimates 2003 is €2.72 million.
At present I am currently reviewing the seaports investment measures under the national development plan, 2000-2006, in the context of the report of the evaluator to the measures, the need for a more systematic and prioritised approach to allocations and the Exchequer budget position.
