Responsibility for the provision of general practitioner services for medical card holders is a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board, in this case, the Eastern Regional Health Authority.

Accordingly, my Department has referred the question to him for investigation and asked that he reply directly to the Deputy.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 333 to 335, inclusive, together.

The provision of health centres and the maintenance and upkeep of such centres, to meet the needs of local communities within its functional area, is a matter for the relevant health board or the Eastern Regional Health Authority in line with funding available under the national development plan. In the case of the health centre in Mulhuddart, Dublin 15, this responsibility rests with the Eastern Regional Health Authority.
