Vol. 558 No. 1

Written Answers. - Taxi Regulations.

Willie Penrose

Ceist:

381 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Transport if a person who has a taxi licence and pays the licence fee in January, has to make a further payment of such licence fee if they purchase a new car during the year in which the original licence is still current; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23415/02]

I refer to the reply to Question No. 374 of 12 November 2002.

A person who is granted a taxi licence in January and pays their taxi licence fee of €6,300 for the grant of the licence, and who subsequently decides to apply to transfer the taxi licence to a new car prior to the licence renewal date, as in the example given, is not required to pay a further fee of €6,300 but is required to pay a fee of €125 as the transfer is treated as a licence renewal.
