Vol. 558 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Phil Hogan

Ceist:

464 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of applicants awaiting the disabled person's grant payment in respect of Kilkenny County Council and Kilkenny Borough Council as at 1 October 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23371/02]

As the administration of the disabled person's grant scheme is a matter for local authorities the information sought is not directly available in my Department. The most recent information received from Kilkenny County Council which, I understand, administers the scheme in both the county and the borough areas, indicates that the council paid 45 such grants in the period 1 January to 31 July 2002. The council had on hands 33 approved and 40 unapproved applications at 31 July.

Mary Upton

Ceist:

465 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government further to Parliamentary Question No. 245 of 14 November 2002, the amount of money which was allocated in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 to a local authority (details supplied) for the purposes of disabled persons, essential repairs and house purchase and improvement loans; and the number of essential repair grants recouped from the local authority for the same years. [23414/02]

The capital allocation for the payment of house purchase and improvement loans, disabled persons and essential repair grants notified to South Dublin County Council in 2000, 2001 and 2002 was €952,304, €1,396,712 and €2,100,000 respectively. The allocation in respect of 2003 will not issue until early next year. The number of essential repair grants recouped by this Department to the county council for those years was nil in 2000, one in 2001 and five to end of October 2002.
