Vol. 558 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Nicholas Gogarty

Ceist:

141 Mr. Gogarty asked the Minister for Transport if there are plans to provide funding to grant aid multi-storey underground car parks beside planned pedestrian zones in major towns. [23200/02]

I have no plans to provide grants for multi-storey underground car parks beside planned pedestrian zones in major towns.

Tax incentives for park and ride facilities are provided for in the Finance Acts, 1999 and 2001, and the qualifying period for the incentives was extended to June 2004 in the Finance Act, 2002. My Department has issued local authorities with guidelines relating to the certification of qualifying park and ride facilities and residential and commercial development located at such facili ties. Copies of these guidelines are available in the Oireachtas Library.
I understand that tax incentives are also available for the construction or refurbishment of qualifying multi-storey car parks in certain areas of Dublin and Cork; guidelines and further information in this regard are available from the Department of the Environment and Local Government.
