334 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if there are plans to introduce legislation to give executive type powers to directly elected mayors; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25116/02]
I refer to the reply to Questions Nos. 9, 15 and 47 of 28 November. This states my intention to complete consideration of all issues around arrangements for the direct election of the cathaoirleach of city and county councils shortly, and well in advance of the 2004 elections.
