197 Ms M. Wallace asked the Minister for Finance the total annual cost to the State, divided into humanitarian relief and infrastructural repairs, from damage due to severe weather con ditions since 1 January 1997 to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25808/02]
I presume that the Deputy is referring to damage caused by flooding. The annual cost in respect of the whole State sector is not readily available. The following table sets out expenditure by the Office of Public Works on flood relief works and on the humanitarian aid scheme from 1 January 1997 to date:
