Written Answers. - Departmental Funding.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

279 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the funding which was made available to the Central Fisheries Board in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001; the portion of this which was allocated to the South-Western Fisheries Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25524/02]

Funding is allocated directly to each of the central and regional fisheries boards from the vote of the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources. In addition the Central Fisheries Board further allocates funding for national programmes which it co-ordinates among the boards.

During the period in question funding was also made available to the central and regional fisheries boards under the tourism angling measure of the Operational Programme for Tourism 1994-99.

The table indicates the total payments made to the central and regional fisheries boards and to the South-Western Regional Fisheries Board specifically for the period 1997-2001.
