Ceist:320 Mr. J. Breen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will intervene to bring the strike in the Clare health services to a successful conclusion. [25516/02]

I understand that the strike in the Clare mental health services has been lifted with effect from 6 December 2002. On 5 December, at a hearing before Ms Janet Hughes, Rights Commissioner, it was agreed that a final attempt would be made at arbitration. If no agreement is reached between the parties by 17 December, an adjudication will be made by the Rights Commissioner which will be binding on both parties. In meantime, the three members of staff concerned have been granted special leave with pay.
