Vol. 559 No. 1

Written Answers. - Special Savings Incentive Scheme.

Paul Nicholas Gogarty

Ceist:

116 Mr. Gogarty asked the Minister for Finance the nature of the advice received from within his Department on the changes which could or could not be made to the operation of the special savings investment accounts. [25577/02]

In the lead up to the budget, my Department indicated to me the advantages and disadvantages of various options in relation to the operation of the SSIA scheme. This is the normal procedure when assessments are made in the run-up to the budget. As the Deputy will appreciate, the decisions on such matters rest in all cases with the Minister.
