Vol. 560 No. 1

Written Answers. - Schools Recognition.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

334 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Education and Science the status of the Gael Scoil Nás Na Ríogh project; if the school has full recognition; the extent to which he expects the project to proceed in the near future; if he has had correspondence with the school authorities with a view to expediting the process; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27154/02]

Provisional recognition was awarded to Gaelscoil Nás na Ríogh, Naas, County Kildare, with effect from September 2002. During the period of provisional recognition, it is the responsibility of the school patron to provide interim accommodation. This accommodation must be capable of fully meeting the needs of the developing school until permanent recognition has been secured and the Department is in a position to acquire a site and provide a permanent school building. There are no plans at present to provide accommodation on a permanent basis for Gaelscoil Nás na Ríogh.
