Vol. 560 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tax Code.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

194 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Finance if tax credits will be granted to a person (details supplied) in County Cork. [2949/03]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that a certificate of tax credits issued to the taxpayer on 17 January 2003 and that the taxpayer's employer is applying those tax credits to her earnings.

The taxpayer is jointly assessed for income tax with her husband and most of the couple's tax credits are allocated to the husband. The inspector does not have up-to-date information about the husband's current employment situation and she has written to the taxpayer to ask whether the taxpayer and her husband wish to have their tax credits allocated differently.
The taxpayer is urged to contact the inspector as quickly as possible in the matter so that the couple's tax credits can be allocated in the way that is most beneficial to them.
