[4003/03]

There is a full-time press officer and a full-time information officer plus two clerical support staff employed in the Department of Transport for media and media marketing, including external public relations and media monitoring services. No other external consultants are employed by my Department for these activities.

The approximate costs, which mainly relate to salaries, were €174,000 in 2001; €185,000 in 2002 and €26,000 to date in 2003.

These figures include all the Department of Public Enterprise expenditure to 17 June 2002 and all the Department of Transport expenditure from 18 June 2002. As a result, year by year figures are not comparable.
