312 Ms Harkin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number and cost of personnel involved in his Department in media, media marketing and public relations activities, including external public relations and media monitoring services in the periods 1 January 2001 to 31 December 2001, 1 January 2002 to 31 December 2002, and 1 January 2003 to date. [4004/03]
The information requested by the Deputy is set out in the following tabular statement. The Press Office in my Department is the only area where staff are engaged on media duties. The number of staff assigned to this area during 2001, 2002 and 2003 was five, five and four respectively. The salary costs for the Press Office during 2001, 2002 and 2003 to date are set out at table 1. The costs paid by my Department to outside companies in respect of news monitoring and public relations for the years 2001, 2002 and 2003 is set out at tables 2 and 3 respectively.
