Vol. 561 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Bernard J. Durkan

Ceist:

352 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs the criteria by which he expects rural communities to qualify for grant aid from his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4073/03]

My Department operates a wide range of programmes which offer benefits to urban and rural communities. Programmes which have a particular focus on the needs of rural communities are: CLÁR; LEADER; INTERREG; PEACE.

The rules regarding the latter three schemes are set by the EU Commission. Information on these four schemes, including eligibility criteria, is being separately made available to the Deputy.

In addition a range of schemes are operated by my Department directed at supporting communities generally as well as specific schemes directed at Gaeltacht communities.

Details on these schemes generally, or any specific schemes in which the Deputy may have an interest, are available on request.
