Ceist:

361 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the number of disability allowances and disability benefits granted for the years 1992 to 2000; if she will give a breakdown of these by county; the number of these which were granted on appeal; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [4115/03]

Information on numbers of claims awarded and granted on appeal is contained in the following table. My Department does not hold statistics on the number of claims awarded by county.

* The Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs took over responsibility for disability allowance from the Health boards with effect from October 1996. Previously the scheme was known as disabled persons maintenance allowance.
