Vol. 561 No. 2

Written Answers. - Control of Livestock.

Paul Connaughton

Ceist:

203 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the steps he has taken to control livestock that are trespassing on the farm of a person (details supplied) in County Galway and many of their neighbours; the steps he intends to take; when such measures will be implemented to solve this problem which is caus ing great anxiety to a number of adjoining farmers; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4059/03]

The issue of trespass is a civil matter and is not the responsibility of my Department. However, I am aware of the problem and the local district veterinary office is currently attempting to resolve the matter in conjunction with the local Defence Forces. Access to the holding in question is difficult and a successful resolution of the problem will require the co-operation and assistance of local farmers.
