Vol. 561 No. 4

Written Answers. - College of Music.

Olivia Mitchell

Ceist:

270 Ms O. Mitchell asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the planned changes within Dublin Institute of Technology and of the threat they pose for the College of Music, in particular for access to music education by younger children and part-time students; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4294/03]

Jan O'Sullivan

Ceist:

310 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for Education and Science the action he intends to take to ensure that resources to the College of Music, Dublin, are not reduced which would threaten the scope and affordability of courses provided by the school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4751/03]

I propose to take questions Nos. 270 and 310 together.

The Dublin Institute of Technology is a statutory body established under the Dublin Institute of Technology Act 1992. Under that Act, the governance and day-to-day activities of the institute, including the management of the resources of the institute, are matters for which the governing body and the management staff of the institute are responsible. This includes decisions on the operation and management of the Dublin Institute of Technology School of Music.
