Vol. 561 No. 4

Written Answers. - National Development Plan.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

300 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the national development plant outlay in the Waterford constituency for 2002; the percentage this was of his Department's total national plan outlay for 2002; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4710/03]

My Department has responsibility for the operation of a number of measures covered by two of the operational programmes under the national development plant. These programmes are the productive sector operational programme and the employment and human resources development operational programme. My Department is also responsible for a number of measures under the regional operational programmes for the border, midlands and western region (BMW) and the southern and eastern region (S&E).

Expenditure under the operational and regional programmes is monitored by monitoring committees that have been established for each of the programmes. This expenditure is reported at NUTS II level (that is, BMW and S&E basis) and it is available at county level. Expenditure under the four programmes for the full year 2002 will be reviewed at the spring monitoring committee meetings that will be held in April 2003.

Regarding the specific information requested by the Deputy in relation to the Waterford constituency, due to the wide range of programmes under the NDP in the education sector, it would require an inordinate amount of official time to answer the question in the detail requested. However, if the Deputy has any queries regarding a specific measure, I will be happy to seek to obtain the information for him.
