Vol. 561 No. 5

Written Answers. - Civil Defence School.

Breeda Moynihan-Cronin

Ceist:

151 Ms B. Moynihan-Cronin asked the Minister for Defence the progress made to date in regard to the proposed transfer of the Civil Defence School from Dublin to Roscrea; if he has plans for further decentralisation of any part of his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [4679/03]

The Deputy will be aware that, in the context of the White Paper on Defence, the Government decided to decentralise the Civil Defence branch of my Department to Roscrea, County Tipperary.

The Office of Public Works, which has responsibility for the provision of official accommodation for Government Departments, is in discussions with the owners of a building in Roscrea regarding leasing part of the property. There are currently no further decentralisation plans for my Department.
