Vol. 562 No. 5

Written Answers - Grant Payments.

Paul Connaughton

Ceist:

216 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the reason the 2002 suckler cow grant has not been awarded to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6610/03]

The person named applied for premium on 20 animals under the 2002 suckler cow premium scheme on 27 June 2002. It was found at inspection that two unclaimed animals, tag numbers GBB908633 and 182436170066, were found to be non-compliant with requirements in relation to the identification and registration of animals on CMMS.

Correspondence issued to the herdowner on 11 February informing him that a resultant penalty would apply in accordance with clause 43 of the terms and conditions of the scheme. The person named was given 21 days to contact his local office if he wished to seek a review of this decision. The herdowner has been in contact but he has not yet stated whether he will seek a review. It has also been brought to the herdowner's attention that animal tag number GTA904877 on his application is registered as dead on CMMS since January 2002. The inspection has confirmed that the animal is alive and in the ownership and possession of the person named. He has been advised to have the incorrect details which have been registered with CMMS amended. The application will be processed further when these matters have been addressed.
