Ceist:

263 Ms Enright asked the Minister for Education and Science the number of Irish students attending third level institutes in Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom on a county by county basis for both Northern Ireland and the United Kingdom. [6621/03]

As the Deputy may be aware, while my Department's statistics section and the Higher Education Authority collect information on the domiciliary origin of full-time students in colleges and universities within our own jurisdiction, they do not collect such information in relation to students from the Republic of Ireland studying outside this country.

However, I understand from the Higher Education Authority that they have obtained information from UCAS – the Universities and Colleges Admission Service – in relation to students from the Republic of Ireland studying in the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland for the 2001-02 academic year. I include, for the Deputy's information, the following table which they supplied:
