Vol. 562 No. 5

Written Answers - Information Technology Initiatives.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

267 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Education and Science if an ICT grant will be awarded to Ballybunion boys' national school, Ballybunion, County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6780/03]

The Deputy will be aware that almost €100 million has been made available to schools in order to realise the Government's vision of preparing all of our students for the information age. Under the Schools IT 2000 and Blueprint for the Future of ICT in Education initiatives, Ballybunion boys' national school received some €9,500 from my Department to fund its ICT infrastructural development.

The National Centre for Technology in Education is currently conducting a census of all schools, on behalf of my Department, in order to determine the level and pace of infrastructural development in schools. It is intended that the findings of this census, which will be available before the end of the current academic year, will inform my Department's future policies for the integration of ICT into teaching and learning, having regard to the funding available in the current and future years.
