Vol. 564 No. 3

Written Answers - Food Safety Standards.

Thomas P. Broughan

Ceist:

53 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he is satisfied that the Food Safety Authority of Ireland is sufficiently resourced in order to meet the standards required to guarantee safe food from farm to fork; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8858/03]

This is a matter for my colleague, the Minister for Health and Children. He answered a question on this issue on 6 March and indicated that he was satisfied that the Food Safety Authority of Ireland was adequately funded. My Department has a detailed service contract with the Food Safety Authority of Ireland which is designed to provide the highest possible standard of food safety for consumers.
