Vol. 565 No. 3

Written Answers. - Civil Service Recruitment.

Michael Noonan

Ceist:

148 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Finance if he intends holding a confined competition for recruitment to the clerical officer grade in the Civil Service; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10942/03]

There are no plans at present to hold a confined competition for recruitment to the clerical officer grade in the Civil Service. However, the holding of such a confined competition is being kept under review and the possibility remains that such a competition may be held in future if the need arises.

The Deputy may wish to note that an open recruitment competition for appointment to the position of clerical officer in certain provincial locations has been advertised recently. In addition, an open recruitment competition for appointment to the position of clerical officer in Dublin only was advertised in October 2002. Both these competitions are ongoing at present.
