233 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Education and Science if an application has been received by his Department to provide a dedicated school for autistic children in Mullingar, and if he will ensure that it is provided due to the urgent need for this important facility; and if he will make a statement on the matter. My Department has received an application for a dedicated stand-alone facility for autistic children in Mullingar.
My Department is currently examining a number of options to determine the most appropriate way in which education provision may be made available for the children in question. My officials will be in contact with the parents concerned when this process has been completed.
